Toronto Irish Players – 2023 AGM details

Sunday September 24 at 1 pm sharp

Emerald Isle Seniors’ Centre, 2452 Danforth Avenue

We will hold this year’s AGM in person. Everyone is welcome, although only paid-up members will be allowed to vote. If you’re interested, PLEASE REGISTER YOUR ATTENDANCE in advance by e-mailing us at info@torontoirishplayers.com prior to Thursday, 21st September 2023.  The AGM Package will only be sent to those confirming attendance. The package will include the agenda, minutes of last year’s AGM, and Financial Statements for 2021-22. Anyone may register to attend the AGM; to vote or make nominations or stand for office, you must have been a paid up member as of February 28, 2023. We will need a quorum of 20 (including proxies) to proceed.

This AGM will review last season and update you to the present. As well, of course, we will elect a new Executive Committee. Some of our Board is willing to continue to serve, if voters agree, some positions remain to be filled – and of course, all of the positions must face re-election. In. particular, our Treasurer, Tara Moran, will continue as a member of the Players, but will step down from the Treasury. You do not need to be a CPA or even a financial professional, but some comfort with basic bookkeeping and financial management is useful/recommended.

If you have any interest in sitting on the Board as we work our way back through the current challenges, please do let us know or write to ask any questions you have about what it would entail.  We welcome the nomination of new members to the Committee.

Nominations for all positions can be filed in advance by sending notice to our email address at any time or taken from the floor on the day. Again, only fully-paid up Members (as of February 28, 2023) are eligible to run for office.

We will also be awarding the Red Muffler award again for a member of the Players who has made a significant contribution behind the scenes. We will take suggestions closer to the date.

If you are unable to attend, but wish to have your vote counted, written proxies (via e-mail) may be given in advance to individuals who are eligible to vote or sent to us at info@torontoirishplayers.com. We would advise that you e-mail the person whom you’re giving your proxy to and also copy us at info@torontoirishplayers.com.
